Vrsar

This well-known Istrian tourist resort is located three kilometres north of the Lim channel. one of the most beautiful archipelagos in the Adriatic, which has 18 uninhabited islands, is just off the coast of Vrsar. Vrsar is famous for its narrow, meandering streets and small hidden shops. In the old houses and courtyards you can often find concealed wells, stairways and chimneys, which are particularly interesting for lovers of history and architecture.

It is never dull in the town because the hotels provide all day long entertainment and often there are local parties, where the favourite is the Fish Festival – a display of national traditions and impressive culinary offers. In the church of St. Fosca they hold classical music concerts, where it is also possible to see the sacral collection of Vrsar.

For those visitors who seek gastronomic pleasure they have at their disposal the numerous restaurants and inns. Those who like active holidays can choose from one of the following activities: cycling, diving, walking, extreme sports, cave research, tennis, and mini golf. Air sports are a favourite at the nearby airport of Crljenik: parachuting, kite flying and panoramic flights.

Historical sights are the basilica of St Maria, the archaeological locality of Monte Ricco with the remains of a settlement, and a Roman country Villa, as well as the abandoned quarries.

Vrsar has for a long time been known as a sculptors town. Every summer in the abandoned quarry of Montraker a summer sculpting school is held, which starts in the last week of the month of September. In this open space young sculptors under the direction of their mentors, and followed by the inquisitive looks of tourists, work the stone and create enchanting sculptures from it. The works of art that are created in these workshops are later displayed in the public areas of the town.

The accommodation available is high quality – 3 hotels, tourist village and family accommodation with agro tourism services. It is possible to arrive by boat because Vrsar has a marina that offers sailors a complete service. In the town, there are four auto camps, one of which is the famous nudist camp Koversada, the largest of its kind in Europe.
