Skradin is located about 16 kilometers from Šibenik, and this small town with around 700 inhabitants will quickly charm you with its hospitality and way of life. A long time ago, in Roman times, it was famous as Scardon - a peaceful fishing village through which armies of many of the worlds greatest cultures passed, who all left their traces in Skradin. Today, you can still see the remains of Ottoman towers, Roman temples, marble reliefs and similar such artifacts.
Skradin is also known today as the starting point for visits to the National Park of Krka. Skradinski Buk, which is 3 kilometres outside of the town, is one of the reasons why this area has been declared a National Park. Arriving by sea is a special experience, where you will sail through the canyon of the river Krke, where seawater and fresh water mix together. Sailors particularly love coming to Skradin, as much because of the surroundings as because it has one of the most beautiful ACI marinas. You can stay in one of the hotels, campsites, villas, guesthouses or private accommodation, and the inns and restaurants that offer local Mediterranean food supplement this offer. For those who like to be active they will be delighted with the cycle paths that go through the National Park, and it is possible to have fun doing water sports (rowing, kayaking, canoeing), basketball and football. Hunting and fishing trips are also frequently organized, and a special attraction and unforgettable experience is an organized wedding on the magnificent waterfalls at Krka.
The town itself has well kept beaches that are suitable for children. For those who prefer natural untouched beaches, they can leave the village centre and enjoy the beautiful un-spoilt surroundings.
