Vir is a small island 25 kilometres away from Zadar and connected to the mainland by bridge. You will not find hotel accommodation on Vir, but if you prefer a family atmosphere and staying in an apartment, then definitely come here because this island is dedicated to family tourism. The beaches and auto camp are accompanied by good quality additional activities. In the town itself there is the town beach that offers a number of activities for children and adults, and it also has restaurants and cafes. Outside the centre, you can have an undisturbed swim in one of the small bays where no one will bother you.
Vir is a typical Karst island with not so much vegetation (mainly figs, olive trees and grapes), but a lot of rock. Last year, the island had an incredible 300 days of sunshine, which is a solid guarantee that you will be able to spend your holiday enjoying the beaches. The winds that blow on the island are suitable for water sports such as windsurfing and kite surfing. In the summer, folklore gatherings are frequently held, as are Klapa [traditional Dalmatian choir] evenings, and the young have discos and cafes available to them.
