Unije is a part of the Lošinj archipelago – an island of untouched nature that exudes a family atmosphere. Only the western side of the island is inhabited, where the rest of the islands are taken up by tall cliffs and fertile fields. There are no means of traffic on the island, except for a motorbike and two tractors that carry out deliveries in the village. 

It is possible to get to Unije via catamaran from Rijeka, or by boat from Lošinj. There is also an airport on the island for smaller aircraft, and it is important to note that there is no concrete tourist accommodation available. Therefore it depends on the hosts! But this is not a problem because the people of Unije greet their guests with open arms and delight in showing them the beauty of this island. 

The main beach is 800 metres long, and if it is not too difficult for you to walk to the other side of the island, then you can get pleasure from one of the beautiful small coves and crystal clear sea. There is a bakery, a shop and newsstand, a restaurant, some cafes, an ice cream shop and an inn on the island. 

As with the surrounding islands, Unije has a distinctive character, and a friendly and family atmosphere governs here. In the evenings, after spending the day on the beach, everyone  - irrespective of his or her age – gathers on the town’s waterfront and has fun all night. No matter who comes to visit Unije they will always decide to come back, and lots of visitors have liked it so much that they have brought houses here. 

Unije is not an island for everyone. People who value nature, good company and a good party are welcome. But come and see for yourself!
