NP Sjeverni Velebit
Sjeverni Velebit (North Velebit) is the youngest national park in Croatia, set aside in 1999. This title was awarded to this region because of its exceptional beauty and wealth of flora and fauna. The park’s area stretches to 109 km², but it is not in fully opened due to inaccessible terrain.

There are also Hajdučki i Rožanski kukovi – natural reserves hiding many speleological objects out of which the most valuable is Lukina jama. There are several hiking tracks on North Velebit, but the most known and best set up is Premužićeva, offering the view on the most interesting parts of Velebit.

In the park a botanical garden is set up in 1967 and there you can meet various endemic species. No one can remain indifferent to the breathtaking beauty of the Velebit’s crass, so it is the best time to set yourself up an adventure and discover this highest Croatian mountain.

You can reach this National Park by bus or car from Gospić or Senj. Because of sharp Velebit winters the Park opens in spring. You can find the accommodation in some of the mountain guest-houses or in hotels below the mountain.
