Risnjak is a part of Dinara range established in 1953. It is fifteen kilometres airline from the sea, hidden behind Rijeka, Risnjak holds many natural amenities and phenomena. This space is still intact, regardless it being close to several bigger towns, Rijeka, Karlovac and Delnice, which is due to good organisation and systematic preservation of nature. Geographical position causes intertwining of different climates; Mediterranean climate, continental air and cold from Dinarides. These fantastic rocks are covered by meadows and woods (abies and beech) and there are several protected species. The area of the National Park is divided in two zones: highly protected and moderate protection. The Risnjak Park got its name after the mountain lions that used to live in that region, but this animal has been almost extinct and under high protection. Other animals occupying this space are brown bear, chamois, deer, kuna, fox and boar. Risnjak offers an unforgettable sunset, a breathtaking view and abundant places for long strolls and hikes. Risnjak is the only place from which top (1528m) you can see Kvarner, Učka, and Alpine region and Velebit on the other side; and when weather is nice you can even see Medvednica, the hill over Zagreb. The accommodation can be found in bed and breakfasts, mountain guest-houses and pensions. Favourite past time in National Park Risnjak is hiking, mountaineering, cycling, fishing and skiing.
