A small town on the hill, which in the last few years has become very well known for its international film festival held in the summer months. Walls surround the old town, which is on the top of the hill, and newer buildings are located at its base. The Roman-Gothic bell tower dominates the town and has a view on the green hills and fertile Istrian vineyards. Its inhabitants engage in the production of wine cultivation and the collection of highly prized truffles, where if you visit one of the farmhouses you can freely join the hosts in these activities.
Apart from attending the best film event in the region, you can visit a number of galleries in Motovun, and we single out the Gallery of Contemporary Arts with its rich collection.
The Motovun woods are a protected reserve and an ideal place for day trips. In them you can enjoy numerous activities. As well as taking a walk in the woods and collecting truffles, the local people recommended harvesting grapes, collecting asparagus, visiting a riding school, taking the wine road and for the adventure tourists canoeing, free climbing and paragliding.
Motovun is a site for an international centre for anthropology, and it is interesting that the steps that lead to the old part of the town are the longest in the region. They have 1052 steps.
Alongside hotel accommodation and accommodation in farmhouses, private rooms and apartments are available for visitors.
